Milena Zullo

 

She is one of the most appreciated dancers and choreographers of the Italian and European contemporary dance: first prize at the international choreographic competition of Paris “Prix Volinine” with Capriccio on N. Paganini’s music, and at the competition “Infiorata d’Oro” of Genzano with Due on R. Strauss’s music.

Born in Rome in August 1967, since young, she has committed herself to the didactics at the Centro di Formazione run by herself, obtaining also in this field several recognitions.

In 1989 she founded the contemporary dance Company “Arte Balletto”, of which she is both author and director.

 

Many the external requests that brings her to create in 1997 Virtù for the Balletto di Toscana on L. V. Beethoven’s music, today this ballet is in the repertoire of her company, in 1998 she created Fr/azioni on S. Vai’s music for the Balletto di Roma, and for the Balletto di Sardegna Giovanna, fragment of the Yanas performance, on P. Fresu’s music, and finally on the occasion of the bicentenary of Leopardi’s birth she was asked a ballet by the AterBalletto Per consolarti io canto on Edoardo Carlo Natoli’s original music.

In 1998 she was called to bring her experience as a teacher and choreographer at the 1° Dancers’ Perfecting Course of the Maruccino Theatre in Chieti, between 1997 and 1998 she starts a short collaboration with the School of the Opera Theatre of Rome ending with the creation of a short work for the younger dancers of the school: La forza delle mani on J. S. Bach’s music; yet she lends her experience for the 1st and 2nd Choreographers Formation Course, directed by D. Cipriani to the Balletto di Roma in 1998-99, also in 1999 she was called as a teacher for the contemporary technique and for a research workshop by the AterBalletto for the X° Dancers’ Perfecting Course.

In 2001 she created for the Balletto di Roma No limits, on Bach’s music.

In 2000/2 she worked in double harness with the School of the Opera Theatre of Rome as a guest teacher creating two choreographic works Bambini soli on Mahler’s music (2000), Pollicino on H. W. Henze’s music and  I bambini ci stanno a guardare on A. Vivaldi’s music (2002).

In 2001 she fused her Compagnia with the Balletto di Roma and the Balletto di Toscana becoming of the new company the permanent choreographer.
